Today we are going to talk about blogging.
So what is a BLOG anyway?
A blog is a website written in a friendly news format that is frequently updated. Unlike traditional Website, a blog is ever changing.
Similar to a TV newscast or newspaper, a blog brings up to date useful information on any topic imaginable. A good blog educates informs and entertains. It is written in reverse chronological order with the most recent post on top. Some people use blogging like a journal , some are ‘just for fun’ and others are extremely professional.Â
So Why should I have a blogging have to do with business?
Whatever online business you have, you must start a blog for the long-term viability of your business.
Here are 8 reasons to start a blog :
1. It is the easiest way to set up a website. There are plenty of free themes you can use for a nice looking site.2. Search engines love blogs because they are looking for fresh
content everyday. If you work at adding new content on a consistent basis Google and other search engines will reward
you with free traffic.
3. You can sell products, including affiliate products, on your blog. Start by placing a banner for your favorite program or product on the sidebar. You’ll get directions on how to add ‘widgets’.
4. You can earn money from AdSense, those Google text ads that you see in many sites.
5. Blogs are a great way to interact with your visitors. You can find lots of information and their need from your visitors’ comments on the blog. You can keep in-touch with them using
emails if they subscribe to your mailing list.
6. You can network with other bloggers in your niche and share ideas
or develop JV partnerships7. When you send traffic to an affiliate product site directly, that traffic is lost to you forever. But if you send the same
traffic to your blog, you can retain a percentage of the traffic who will become repeat visitors to your site. You’ll want to add a contact FORM, so you’ve captured their information.
8. Best of all…….unlike a traditional Website….It’s FREE !
No Web Master or HTML knowledge needed
So How do you start a blog? Â
The 3 most popular blog companies are TypePad, WordPreess, and Blogger or Blogspot. Of the 3, Blogger is the easiest for a beginner.
Just go to Blogger.com and follow the directions. Plan ahead what your TOPIC and your NAME will be. This will become your URL to your Blog site. Be sure you spend a little time on your ABOUT ME and your profile because this is how people can get to feel comfortable with you. Then just relax and start writing.I’d start again with something about you , and the purpose of your blog.
Remember educate, interesting information and friendly . Sales pitches are a turn off.
Now how do I make money?
Blogs are interactive. You encourage visiters to comment. They get to know you… you get to know them. If they are interested in the topic you are discussing , they will eventually be interested in the product you have to sell. if it is relevant, of course. If you are wanting to use a link ,try to use it in your signature.
When you have your own blog, you are in charge of the content that is posted on it. You can decide what is said, and what is not. You are after all writing it all, right? So, the sky is the limit. Whether you want a blog that does website reviews and takes nominations, or you want to sell things that you make out of your home, the choice is yours. Using a blog to get the word out about whatever you want too is a great way to market and promote something.
There are lots of books and reports out there to help you along the way. I think we’ve covered the basics.Â
Blogging, like ‘article writing’ gives visitors a sense of you expertise in your topic, only not so formal.
